After more than 80 years in the Wendt & Kühn pattern archive, this joyful Crowned Angel returns to spread Christmas cheer. Originally designed by Olly Sommer—later Olly Wendt—before 1937, the Large Angel Wearing Crown with Rectangular Basket was reintroduced to the collection in 2026.
Standing 3.5 inches tall, the angel wears the signature golden crown, blond curls and blue patterned wings that distinguish this beloved family of heavenly messengers. A warm coral-red robe and delicate gold accents complement the beautifully hand-painted rectangular basket.
The basket overflows with tempting Christmas treats, including bright green apples and an assortment of carefully decorated cookies. Suspended from one hand is an especially delightful detail—a heart-shaped gingerbread cookie adorned with pink icing, white dots and a delicate leafy design.
This larger basket-bearing angel joins the other large Crowned Angels to form a heavenly trio, while also displaying beautifully on its own. Symbolizing generosity, hospitality and the joy of sharing, it makes a thoughtful gift for a baker, holiday hostess or devoted Wendt & Kühn collector.
